Tennessee has passed a law that prohibits many religious organizations ministers from officiating marriages in the state. They have aggressively sought to restrict officiants from solemnizing same sex unions in the state and are actively working to pass measures that would give a free pass to government officials who are permitted to officiate in the state from having to perform such unions for same sex couples. While ongoing lawsuits are seeking to overturn this law which violates the Freedom of Religion clause of the US Constitution, at this time no such case has succeeded.
